Methods of service

Personal service means handing the papers directly to the named person. Where Florida law allows, substitute service can be made by leaving papers at the person's usual place of abode with a qualifying resident, or with certain agents for businesses. We'll follow the method allowed for your document and party type.

What you receive

  • Email updates after attempts
  • A notarized return (affidavit) of service with date, time, place, and description
  • If service isn't possible, an affidavit of non-service detailing diligent attempts
  • Filing of the return with the clerk on request

Evasive parties

Some people avoid service. We vary attempt times, use stakeouts when authorized, and gather information that may support your attorney's motion for alternative service. We never use deception, threats, or trespass.
